Adopt a Pet

'Recycled' animals often make the the most loving family pets. Saving a shelter animal is a triple win. You get a new pet, usually a little older and already vaccinated and desexed and the animal's life is not only spared, but he goes to a loving family home.

Thousands of abandoned, stray, or lost pets wait at shelters for a new home. Across Australia, an estimated 130,000 animals are brought to shelters each year.

Adoption fees are reasonable and benefits are high. If you are looking for a new or another pet, adopting from an animal shelter is the way to go. There is a wide range of animal species to choose from as well as different ages of the animals.

RSPCA, Australian Welfare League are just some shelter programs which you can go through for your new pet. Pet Rescue is an excellent online service that connects up most of the shelters and carers around Australia with pets looking for adoption.

If you are thinking of getting a new pet, ensure that you are able to meet the needs of your pet:

  • Your backyard or house requirements suit your pet

  • You are able to cover the costs of your animal - properly vaccinate, register and keep your pet fed and healthy

  • You will spend time, effort, and love with your pet
